Chris Larkin was Fourth Horn of the BBC Symphony Orchestra from 1979 until 2015. He has also led the London Gabrieli Brass Ensemble [www.lgbe.co.uk] since 1973, appearing with them on four of the seven continents. He has directed four CDs of brass music for the Hyperion record company and was privileged to direct the LGBE in the first half of the 1991 Beethoven 9 Prom. He has conducted the BBC S.O. on three occasions and appeared as soloist with them in Schumann’s Konzertstück and Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Four-Horned Fandango. In 2014 Chris received the International Horn Society’s prestigious Punto Award in recognition of his lifetime’s research – all now ploughed into his talk Larkin – Around the Horn. He is currently Chairman of the British Horn Society.
